Cedar Ridge is an established neighborhood in the City known and named for it’s cedar roofs (although many have since been replaced). It was established in the late 1980′ and building continued into the 1990s.

Location

Cedar Ridge is located East of Holmes Ave, North of Sunnyside and South of 25th St, with an entrance off 25th St and two entrances from Sunnyside. The neighborhood enjoys all city services and resides within the Idaho Falls School District 91 and is within walking distance of the popular Sunnyside Elementary school.

Features

The lots in the neighborhood are typically 1/4 of an acre. At the Northwest corner of the subdivision is a City park, Community Park, which features a picnic shelter, play equipment, a walking path and baseball/softwall diamonds. Most of the subdivision consists of single family homes and at the Southern end of the subdivison adjacent to Sunnyside Rd are some of the few townhomes available in Idaho Falls proper. The neighborhood has covenants in place and an HOA.

Homes

Home styles range from a two-story layout with a full basement, to 3- and 4-level homes (the 4th level being essentially a half-basement). Homes have two- and three-car garages and fenced yards with largely wood fencing. Homes in this neighborhood were built by a variety of builders.

Heating is in this neighborhood is largely electric with cadet wall heaters, as builders were incentivised by the City in the 1990’s to install this type of heat. As such, unless retrofitted the homes lack ductwork for central air conditioning althought other installation types are available.
